Flickr Find: iPad on a G4 iMac base

Remember the G4 iMac, lovingly called the iLamp because of its unique design that resembled Luxor Jr. of Pixar fame? Spotted on Flickr is this clever iPad stand that uses the base of the G4 as its centerpiece. It was created a few years ago by Flickr member Jamie37211, who documented the process of creating it in a 16-picture photo set. It's a great piece; I wonder if he still uses it?

The Snugg iPad Mini Case – Gear Review

428_129956330008227187iPadMini_Lead

For our Thursday gear review, we’re introducing a new iPad mini case from The Snugg – makers of great cases and accessories for all of your devices. The Snugg iPad mini Case and Flip Stand is a folio style case made of faux-leather and made to look very professionally sleek. Cleverly designed, this case packs a lot of great features and is available now for $24.99 on Amazon!

428_129956330402758437iPadMini_Upright

Out of the box, our first impression is that this looks like a top quality, well-made case. We tested the black model, and with white stitching around the edges, think the detailing is very striking. Even though it is faux-leather, it has a great texture and is crafted superbly. The inside is lined with a suede-like nubuck material and will protect your mini’s screen from scratches.

428_129956330091039687iPadMini_Flat

The sleeve has grooves to support multiple standing positions – viewing and typing. Inside the sleeve, there is a clever nubuck covered elastic hand strap, to make holding it up easier on you. There is also a stylus loop at the top so that it’s always right where you need it. And yet another feather is the magnetic close at both the top and bottom to keep the sleeve held down when not in use.

What I liked: This cover is really sleek and well designed. The materials look and feel of quality, and we love all of the features.

What I didn’t like: With all of the perks of this case, its hard to find a flaw. My only gripe would be that your mini is held in place by faux-leather which wraps over the edges. The corners are left exposed, and if dropped, your iPad isn’t as protected on these corners.

To buy or not to buy: At $24.99 this is a very nice cover, and if you’re looking for something sleek and professional, it comes highly recommended.

Just Mobile UpStand – Gear Review

st-818_high_res_17_l Just Mobile, makers of high quality accessories and gear for your mobile devices, has a great new pedestal for your iPad called the UpStand. Made completely of high grade solid aluminum, this stand sits at the perfect angle for all types of viewing functions on your tablet. st-818_high_res_2_l Intended as a “desktop stand,” the UpStand holds your iPad at an upright angle and works great with a bluetooth keyboard if you like to work on your tablet. For viewing, this stand turns your iPad into a TV or alarm clock, and works great sitting on my kitchen counter as a recipe book as well. The stand also works with a wide array of cases and covers. I tried out several covers, and had no issue with any. Durable and sturdy, the aluminum construction of the stand is highlighted with rubber edging anywhere your tablet would touch, protecting it from scratches. The base also has a rubber ring for additional protection for any surface it may sit on. st-818_high_res_1_l What I like:  Very sturdy, and crafted with high grade aluminum, this is a quality product which performs its function perfectly. The UpStand is also compatible with all generations of the iPad. What I didn’t like:  This stand is limited to one position.  I generally prefer to have a little flexibility, but if you are looking for a stand to be primarily used for viewing, this might be just what you need. To buy or not to buy:  Great quality, sleek design, and perfect as a “desktop stand,” you won’t be disappointed. Accessory Name: Just Mobile Category: iPad Stand Company: UpStand

Just Mobile Encore Stand – Gear Review

st-858_high_res_1_l

Cruising down the highway in the passenger seat, I was all set to break out my laptop on this very long (very boring) road trip and get to a bit of work. That is, until I opened the box of the Encore stand our friends at Just Mobile sent over for us to try out. First impression: whoa. Flipping back the lid of the sleek black box, the first thing you may notice is how simple and elegant the design of this stand is. It is a round base, and hinged arm- no fuss, no superfluous gadgetry- just elegant, well designed, and beautiful. And it now sits on top of the laptop I was going to use, propping up my iPad as I type away

st-858_high_res_6_l

The base, a perfect circle, is solid and stable. Through the bumps and occasional deft maneuvers being made by the aggressive driver of a friend I’m sitting next to, this stand hasn’t budged a millimeter. Weighted in solid aluminum with an oxidized matte finish, the color actually matches spot on with my Macbook, a subtle but clever design decision. The bottom of the base and the edge around the top where the stand comes into contact with the iPad are covered in heavy duty rubber, so there is no chance of this scratching your tablet.

The arm, adjustable for comfortable viewing or typing, is completely covered in the same heavy duty black rubber, also protecting your iPad from scratches. It is fitted quite tightly and takes a good tug to put it exactly in place, but I appreciate the sturdiness and quality of the hinge.

The simplicity of the design here actually lends this stand to be about as flexible as it could be for holding your tablet in a variety of positions, both in portrait and landscape orientation. I have also tested this with a variety of cases, and this seems to have no problem supporting any.

st-858_high_res_30_l

What I like: This case is well designed, elegant, durable, and stable. Folded up, it would fit neatly into a small pocket in my purse or backpack. The materials- solid aluminum and heavy duty rubber are also durable and we are pleased there is no plastic in this stand. Even with these materials the stand overall is quite lightweight.

What I didn’t like: This stand is not a docking station, and while charging you’re iPad while using it doesn’t interfere with the performance at all, that could have potentially been a nice feature.

To buy or not to buy: This is probably the best stand I’ve tried to date. If your in the market, it’s portable, made of high quality materials, and sturdy. You can’t ask for much more.

Chef Sleeve Dishwasher Safe iPad Stand a welcome addition to the kitchen

Long-time TUAW readers may remember that spring day a few years ago when I cracked open an egg on my iPad. I wasn't worried -- the iPad was protected by a Chef Sleeve, an ultra-thin splash- and grease-proof reusable bag that keeps cooking goo from sullying your favorite kitchen device. The company was at Macworld/iWorld 2013 with a couple of new products, but the one that caught my eye was their Dishwasher Safe iPad Stand (US$34.99).

Like the original Chef Sleeve, which basically took some specially designed Ziploc-type plastic bags and did some clever packaging, the iPad stand is pretty generic. Any kid in wood shop could cut out a piece of wood, sand it nicely and route some slots into it. But if you don't have a kid in wood shop and just want something that is going to hold your iPad in one place while you cook, look no further.

Gallery: Chef Sleeve Dishwasher Safe iPad Stand

The best feature of the Dishwasher Safe iPad Stand is the first two words of the name -- dishwasher safe. If this gets a little grease or sauce splashed on it, you just toss it into the dishwasher with the rest of the dirty goods and it comes out nicely sanitized. The product even has an NSF (National Sanitary Foundation) approval stamp; probably the first iPad accessory I've reviewed that has that distinction.

The stand has two slots with two very different viewing angles, and is designed to be used with iPad generations 2 through 4 and the mini. There are nonskid feet on the bottom to keep things from moving as you tap through recipes on the iPad, and the weight (a little over a half pound) is helpful for keeping things stable.

Chef Sleeve partnered with kitchen utensil design firm Epicurean on the design of the iPad Stand, and it shows in the professional construction. Those with an eye out for green products will love the stand as well, since it's made from Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood fibers that are compressed with a food-safe resin.

Sure, it doesn't do much than to just hold your iPad while you're cooking, but I think the Chef Sleeve Dishwasher Safe iPad Stand is going to end up in a surprisingly large number of kitchens worldwide. If you have a Target store nearby, you can pick one up along with a box of Chef Sleeves today. While you're at it, also take a look at their Cutting Board with iPad Stand ($69.99).

Stands du jour: TwoHands & MonkeyDo iPad stands impress

When it comes to iPad stands, there are more options out there in the market than you can shake a stick at. If you're just looking for utility, you needn't look farther than a used roll of duct tape. Ugly but it works. Today's market is about combining utility with beautiful design and I found a couple of items from Staples that are sure to please.

Of the two, the felix MonkeyDo is by far the cuter. Available from Staples for US$19.99 ($14.99 sale price until December 15), this is a stand that will fit the quirkiest aesthetics. Made of strong plastic, the stand fits classic iPads in landscape and portrait positions. (I tested with the iPad 1 and 2. I was unable to test with a mini.)

As adorable as the MonkeyDo is, you can't really see the cute monkey after inserting the iPad. Only its little toes and fingers show in practical use. So a lot of the kawaii goes away when the unit is used as designed.

In terms of fit, the portrait position worked a lot better than landscape for repeated removal and insertion. You really need to make your monkey streeeeeeeeetch to get the landscape iPad in place. In both orientations, the presentation was secure and the fingers did not interfere with the screen.

I found the MonkeyDo to be a cute, solid product; one I have no qualms recommending.

Stands du jour TwoHands & MonkeyDo iPad stands impress

I liked the MonkeyDo; I adored the Felix TwoHands. Retailing at $29.99 at Staples (and on sale for $14.99 until December 15), this stand works like a dream. Based on a springed hinge, you open the stand with a simple squeeze. It adapts to nearly every tablet you throw at it (I tested with iPads, Kindles and an iPhone), and it's so easy to use.

Its two arms have the same kind of cute hand detail used for the MonkeyDo, but with much sturdier plastic. They grasp a tablet at any height you choose, so you can set angles from super-shallow to completely upright. When not in use, the stand snaps shut, with a minimal profile that you can store away in your desk or even a super-generous pencil cup.

After a few days of use by myself and my family, I picked up the phone, confirmed that I could buy at my local Denver store at the online price and ran out and bought a few to keep.

Highly recommended.

Review: Joule II iPad stand

The original Joule was nice and simple, featuring a channel for your iPad and an arm to prop up the tube in which that channel was cut. The Joule II doesn't reinvent the original, but improves upon its design in a couple of places. Like most Element Case products, the Joule isn't the cheapest stand by far (US$109.99), but it's one of the nicest.

Design

The Joule's base has always been a solid aluminum cylinder, machined to precision to hold your iPad (or other tablet) in portrait or landscape. In portrait, there is even a vent port for audio.

On the original Joule, the arm had 3 positions, and was held in place by a magnet. With the Joule II, Element Case has eliminated the magnet in favor of a simple threaded armature and a hole that moves with some resistance, so you have a bit more control over the angle.

Review Joule II iPad stand

There's a new vent port for audio, this time a series of holes cut through the beefy aluminum base cylinder. The channel is less specific to the iPad these days, but it's clearly designed with the iPad as one of the primary target customers.

The channel for your tablet is generous without feeling like your iPad could flop out somehow. Also, the suede interior slightly grips, and avoids the scratching of aluminum on glass.

Functionality

It's an iPad stand and it does what it says. The Joule II comes with a handy zippered case, and the heft of the base makes it ideal in a number of situations where you need a stable base, but may need to grab the iPad easily.

Review Joule II iPad stand

The rear armature's mechanism works very well, and in several days of use I didn't notice it getting looser. While I worry a bit about longevity (versus the previous design), it feels sturdy enough to last for years.

Who is it for?

Anyone with the cash available who needs a sturdy, attractive and useful stand. It's capable of being packed easily but looks great, so I could see some business and commercial applications as well.

GroovBoard is a clever, useful laptop desk for iPad

GroovBoard is a clever, useful laptop desk for iPad

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPad to the world, he sat in a cozy chair to emphasize the informal, relaxed ease of using the device. Years later, I'd wager that many customers use their iPads in a similar way. Curled up on a couch or chair. It's comfortable but not always convenient. The GroovBoard lapdesk for iPad is here to help.

This hardwood, iPad-friendly lapdesk accommodates an iPad (in several orientations), an Apple Bluetooth keyboard and a stylus, all while looking good. I've been using it for a week and found it convenient and comfortable, if not a little bulky. Here's my look at the GroovBoard lapdesk and stand for iPad.

I'm also giving away my review unit, plus a protective bag, six self-adhesive feet (unused - the adhesive is still good!), a quickstart leaflet and a nice microfiber cloth. Details follow the review.

Gallery: GroovBoard iPad lapdesk and stand

In the rear grooveDetail of rear grooveWith keyboard in placeMagnets and extender pieceSans keyboard

Construction

The GroovBoard is available in six hardwoods: alder, apple, ash, cherry, maple, oak, plum (very distinctive looking) and walnut. The dimensions are 11.8 x 9 x 0.95 inches, and it weighs just about two pounds. The whole thing feels nice (each piece is finished with linseed oil for a silky feel) and the edges have been routed ever so slightly, just to remove the hard edge. The grooves are nicely cut and do their job well, but more on that later.

What's interesting is the removable extender. It's held in place by four magnets and to posts and snaps on and off easily. I was certain I was about to break something the first time I removed it, as it feels odd to pick this thing up and snap the last few inches off, but no, it's supposed to work like that. When assembled, it's in place nice and tight, so you needn't worry about it falling off when you don't want it to.

Use

Here's the fun part. There are three main ways to use the GroovBoard with your iPad. The first is as a simple stand. Place your iPad in the groove towards the front. You'll find that it's held at a nice angle for touching and tapping. You can type in this orientation, tough I found the extender to be in the way. You can remove it, of course, or move the iPad to the rear groove.

The groove at the back of the GroovBoard holds it at a less sharp angle and frees up the front groove to hold an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, which it accommodates perfectly. In my week of testing, this is how I used the GroovBoard most often. The keyboard's rounded battery compartment fits perfectly into the frontmost groove (neat that it holds the keyboard or an iPad just as ably) and the rest of it sits nicely on the extender. It's at home on a desk or your lap in this configuration.

Finally, you can tip the GroovBoard up on its end and find a third groove at the very top of the device. Put the iPad in there if your slouching back with your knees up. It's quite comfortable resting against your thighs, and you can remove the extender to find the best viewing angle.

I've also got to mention the stylus slots. There are four in total, two on each side. The GroovBoard holds several models of stylus (full list here; my Cosmonaut was too big) in either the lapdesk or "slouching back" position.

Conclusion

The GroovBoard is very nice. It's also kind of big. At two pounds, it's heavier than my iPad 2 (1.33 pounds). It's also noticeably thicker, and takes up a lot of room in my small bag. It also got a couple of scratches on the bottom, but that could be because I'm using a European Cherry GroovBoard, which is the softest model.

The GroovBoard is a great device. It's clear that a lot of thought went into its design and construction. The fact that it can accommodate the iPad in a variety of ways, hold a stylus for a lefty or a righty and secure an Apple keyboard so well makes it a very useful lapdesk/stand indeed. Plus, it's just good-looking.

Prices vary between US$89 and $119. If you're looking to buy one as a gift, get your order in now. Or, win our giveaway!

Hands on with the iKlip Studio stand for iPad

It's difficult to get excited about a stand for the iPad, unless it's something exceptional. But most of the time, a stand is to serve a very practical need. And with IK Multimedia producing a vast array of accessories and applications for musicians to use with their iPads and iPhones, it makes sense for them to make a stand for the iPad (like the iKlip for the iPhone and iPad -- attaching to a mic stand), but for the desktop.

At US$29.99, the iKlip Studio for the iPad provides everything you need in a stand. It assembles in a matter of seconds and folds away virtually flat for transportation to your next studio session. It's made from shock-resistant thermoplastic, so it won't shatter if you drop it, or mark or scratch your iPad, either. Rubber foot pads are placed at the corners of the underside of the stand to make sure it doesn't go sliding and slipping about. Similarly, rubber foot pads are also found on the upper-side of the stand, which the iPad rests on, so your iPad won't fall out of the stand with a knock or jolt.

The iKlip Studio has been well thought through. All your iPad's controls, buttons, connectors, and the camera are easily accessible. There's also ample space to accommodate a case for your iPad if you use one. When placed in portrait mode, there's a grill in the stand to allow sound from your iPad's speaker to come through as intended, without being muffled. If you have IK's iRig guitar adapter, there's a useful bracket that can be attached round the back to neatly house the adapter.

Possibly the most useful feature is the flexible orientation of the iKlip Studio. You can tilt its position to a very low angle or have it just about vertically facing you, or anywhere in between.

The iKlip Studio may not be the most aesthetically exciting stand around, but if you're looking for a stand which ticks all the practical boxes at a reasonable price, you won't go wrong with it.

Magnus magnetic stand has a hold on your iPad 2

Sometimes the most simple accessories can be the most effective. When I received a tiny box from Ten One Design claiming to hold a stand that would support an iPad 2 in an upright position, I scoffed. But it turns out that the Magnus magnetic stand (US$49.95) really does work.

The Magnus is a tiny sculpted piece of aluminum with a very powerful magnetic strip at the bottom. When you place an iPad 2 onto it in the designated landscape orientation (with the home button on the right side), the Magnus and iPad click together. Held in the magnetic clutch of the Magnus, the iPad is nicely balanced and stays securely perched.

This is one of the smallest iPad stands I've reviewed so far ... and I've reviewed a lot of 'em. For anyone who wants a stand that will hold an iPad in landscape orientation and is virtually invisible at the same time, the Magnus is your product.

On the other hand, if you like your iPad in the full, upright position (portrait) look elsewhere. For movie viewing or using the iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, the Magnus is perfect.

At 4.6 ounces, the Magnus won't load down your favorite iPad bag while in transit. And dang, it just looks good. There's not much more to say than that, so I'll just let you take a look at the gallery for more views of what could become your favorite slab of aluminum ... other than your iPad 2.

Ten One Design premieres Pogo Sketch Plus and Magnus iPad stand at CES

It's always great to see the guys from Ten One Design at various trade shows and conventions we cover here at TUAW and seeing them again at CES was no exception. This time around, in addition to displaying the popular Fling joystick for iPhone and iPad, Ten One had two new products on display.

The first as the Pogo Sketch Plus stylus, which is an updating version of the popular Pogo Sketch featuring an all-new tip. Personally, I'm not a huge stylus fan (I agree with Steve Sande: "If you see a stylus, they blew it"), but I do agree that the Plus is more accurate and a little smoother than the previous version. I don't know that it'll convince you to use a stylus on the iPhone or iPad when you don't already, but if you use another stylus or the standard Pogo Sketch, the new version is worth checking out.

Ten One was also showing off the Magnus, a new iPad stand they're making. iPad stands are so CES 2011, but this one is actually pretty innovative: It includes a strong metal base outfitted with a magnet, so the iPad not only stands in place, but is held there with a magnetic charge (on the same edge that Apple's Smart Cover uses to stay on. The design of the Magnus is really impressive -- the iPad would fall over without that magnet, so the whole thing looks quite magical.

The Pogo Sketch Plus is available for $14.95, and the Magnus is available for $49.95. Of course, it only works with the iPad 2 and its embedded magnet.

Ten One also says the Fling continues to sell well. There are a few other joysticks out there, but Ten One says that no other competitors have borrowed the Fling's patented twisty design yet. They did say that a few "counterfeit" copies have appeared, but not enough to cause issue with Ten One's sales. We asked if there have been any major customer complaints yet, or any big improvements in the product customers have asked for, but they say that customers have been happy overall with the Fling. The only real issue so far? "It's kid-proof, but not dog-proof," says Ten One.

PadGadget Giveaway – Enter to Win a PropUp Stand for your iPad

Happy New Year!  And what better way to start 2012, than by entering a PadGadget accessory contest.  Today we have partnered with the folks at PropUp to offer our readers a chance to win one of three stands.

Originally designed for use with the iPad, the ergonomic PropUp stand also works with the iPad 2 and has moved from Kickstarter to full production.  Made of high quality, foam-like material with a smooth, soft texture, this stand cradles the iPad perfectly, providing a snug fit, even when your iPad is in one of the many cases currently on the market.

The iPad snaps easily into the PropUp stand and allows you to use your device in either landscape or portrait mode.  Need to prop up your iPad on the kitchen counter to read recipes while you cook, hold your iPad comfortably while you read in bed or sit your iPad on the desk when doing homework?  The PropUp will help you in all those situations and more.

Prop Up Stands are available in black, lime green or bright pink for $29.99 on Amazon.  Of course you could also enter our contest for a chance to win one of these great stands.  We have two black stands and one pink stand to give away and entering our contest is easy!  Just follow the directions below and maybe you’ll be a winner. Germanmade handmade wood and leather g.2 iPad-Case for iPad 2

Germanmade iPad case

Most premium iPad cases are pretty similar. Some are bags, some flips cases, some sleeves -- Germanmade has done something a bit different with their book-style case.

Construction and design

Made from leather stretched over veneer, the case has a uniquely organic feel. From the outside it looks just like a leather-bound book. The sides resemble mottled pages, with the hardback cover completing the look.

Both the wood veneer and surface cover material are exquisitely finished, giving a genuinely luxury feel. The inside of the case is finished in natural wood and an inlay color of your choice, in this case white. It's put together really well too, feeling pretty solid all round, yet reasonably light for the size and amount of material used. While I wouldn't want to drop the iPad in the case, it's likely to be held pretty well; although the case itself is likely to come off pretty knackered from a fall of any decent height.

Use

Germanmade iPad case open

The case fits the iPad 2 very well, holding it securely in place with small rubber friction pads in the corners. The front flap is held in place by a thin strip of black elastic that reminds me of those gorgeous moleskine notebooks. In the lid are the required magnets to shut off the iPad 2 upon closing -- a nice touch.

The wood of the case is shaped to give you access to all that the iPad does without taking it out of the case. Cut outs allow access to the side switch and volume rocker, dock connector port, headphones and power button; there's even a shaped cut out for the speaker on the back of the iPad 2, which projects the sound forward. There's no access to the back camera, but taking the iPad in and out of the case is a breeze thanks to thumb-sized cutouts for leverage

The case also has two tricks up its sleeve. The first is that the front flap can be folded around the back to create a landscape support for typing. It provides just enough of an angle to make using the keyboard just that little bit easier on your wrists like Apple's Smart Cover does.

The second trick is a vertical stand. Cut into the wood at the bottom left edge of the case are two grooves that you can place the naked iPad in, propping it up vertically in either landscape or portrait orientation. It's extremely stable and makes a nice desktop stand as long as you've got enough room for it.

The case comes in two space variants. One of them just takes the iPad; the other is a little thicker and takes the iPad as well as an iPhone, a pen and a pad of paper, which are hidden behind the iPad in the case. It makes an excellent alternative to a small briefcase for light office duties and keeps everything nice and secure.

Verdict

If you're looking for something a bit different, something sophisticated that doesn't look out of place on a desk full of books, then the Germanmade series of iPad and iPad 2 cases are just the ticket. They're not the most portable of protection for your tablet, but looking like a book you can just carry them on their own, without fear of them being pinched.

They're available in both iPad and iPad 2 flavors, with and without the spaces for the iPhone and bits. They're well finished, hand made, and available in a plethora of different finishes and colors. They command a price that's well above average for iPad cases, but the unique styling and quality handmade fit and finish certainly set it apart from the rest. Be sure to check out the gallery above for some close-ups of the individual features.

Germanmade cases can be had for between US$100 and $160 plus shipping depending on model and cover material.

Stand Gives Your iPad a New Place to Perch

Perch StandA new series of stands made by IPEVO offers you a new way to cradle your iPad using a sleek stand designed to hold your iPad at exactly the right height.

The Perch is available in 3 different models, each with a different intended use (though you may of course have ideas of your own on how they may best fit for you). The small model is intended for use on desktops and could easily be paired with a keyboard to be used as more of a laptop or even desktop style computer with IPEVO advising that it would also be ideal for situating your iPad on the kitchen counter and other similar surfaces.

The medium size is nicknamed the sofa model because it is ideally located at the appropriate height to use while seated. The largest model is referred to as the podium with a perfect alignment for use while standing, making it handy for cradling your iPad while you are delivering speeches or giving presentations.

These really are lovely stands with very minimal bulk. Designed with flat v-shaped legs, each stand should be very stable but also quite able to slide under things like your couch or your bed so that you can pull your iPad in nice and close. Each stand is available with a black or white finish and chosen for compatibility with either the iPad or iPad 2 model of the Apple tablet.

I have to admit that I do love the look of them, but I have two wish-list items for a second iteration. I would like to see a single stand that can be height adjusted (or perhaps just two stands, one for desktop and countertop use that is short and cannot be adjusted, and a second model that can be telescopically adjusted between seated to standing heights) and also have a cradle that can be adjusted enough that it would suit holding both iPad models (as well as future models) or even competing tablets. In households with multiple devices it is frustrating to have single-device accessories.

The Perch line of stands are available for purchase exclusively from the IPEVO website at a cost of US $49.95 for the small desktop stand, US $79.95 for the Medium stand and US $129.00 for the Large stand.

iLuv WorkStation dock is for serious iPad typists

I'll be brutally honest: The iLuv WorkStation doesn't exactly win a lot of points for beauty -- it's a bulky device, as you can see above. But what it's lacking in subtlety, it tried hard to make up for in functionality, basically turning your iPad (or Samsung Galaxy, if you happen to swing that way) into a full-sized desktop computer. Plug the iPad in, and you get a tilting and rotating bracket, a keyboard (different models run with a connected or wireless Bluetooth keyboard), and a full set of speakers.

If you need a dedicated station for your iPad, this doesn't look like a bad choice. Just make sure you have plenty of room on your desk. The models run from US$50 to $180, and all of the units are available on iLuv's website right now. Expect them in retail stores later this month.
