Anybody who has tried to rap (whether in mixed company or alone in the car) knows how difficult it really is to do it at all well. AutoRap understands and endeavors to make rapping possible even for the most rhythmically challenged among us.

All you need to do is speak into your iPad and the app will mix it up for you and make you sound like a complete professional!

AutoRap gives you two ways to play: talk into the mic and listen as your speech is turned into rapping or rap to the beat and prepare to be amazed as your rhythm gets corrected. I must say that rap mode provides the most entertainment, particularly when you have the opportunity to try your hand at one of your favorite (and currently popular) tunes. After a few attempts I can say for certain that Nicki Minaj shouldn’t be concerned that I will be taking away her fan-base anytime soon!

Almost as entertaining as the audio that this app produces are the beautiful visualizations that accompany your creations.

What I liked: In addition to saving and sharing your own creations this app allows you to listen to the vocal styling of other rappers playing with AutoRap. After flipping through a few of the songs available I can say for certain that it was the funniest thing I have done in a long time.

What I didn’t like: The app is free but it is a bit of a smoke and mirrors show. You start the game with a number of free plays (and two beats that are always available at no charge), but if you want to use the premium beats (by major recording artists like Outkast or Ludacris) or play the game beyond those few beats you will have to buy or earn more opportunities. Earning them means signing up for various promotional style advertising services, and even seeing them felt annoying.

To buy or not to buy: AutoRap is fun and funny all at once and worth a look, if you really enjoy it consider upgrading to a few plays with some premium beats.
